Big news, big news!

I GOT THE JOB! On Wednesday, May 1, I was offered a public health education specialist position by the Haywood County Health Department.  I will coordinate the Healthy Haywood program.  Our coalition focuses on healthy eating, substance abuse and mental health.  One coalition program is the fitness challenge.  They were holding it in the fall when I arrived.  For $10, participants had a certain number of visits at area gyms and studios.  There were certain times they could go and classes they could take.  I'm really excited about that one.  My current position is housed here, so I don't even have to switch offices.  I hope to switch desks, though, because there are a lot of supplies where the last person sat.  My cat and I (especially the cat) are thrilled that we don't have to move.  Moving is a pain in the rump and I really like it here.  This means...another winter of skiing.  I will buy my pass earlier and save cash, while getting in much more skiing! I bought a real (cheap) hiking backpack and can't wait to show it (and share the news) with my group.  I am looking forward to a summer of community events and exploring more waterfalls (natural waterslides, swimming holes).  Come visit! :)
